Generate, perhaps more than any other of Luttrell’s tunes seems fashioned with rustic confidence designed to glide. But that’s only half the story, as entirely unexpectedly, the tune shifts gears during the breakdown, upping into flowering distortion, where the synths seemingly twist and turn around each other, around each note, all filtered through a heavy electronic flange that’s unrelenting, holding everything momentarily in check, as if your breath were being sucked out of you … then moving easily back slyly as if nothing had happened. It’s all wonderful and stunning!
